Robert Rodriguez

Robert Rodriguez is a good movie producer that I found out about through cooking. Namely through watcing a video via Foodwishes. Chef John has nice words for the guy and for good reason. Mr. Rodriguez makes breakfast Tacos (from scratch), ant it involves lots of the things that I like: potato omlet, home made tortillas (that i have never tryed, due to lack of conditions and propper gear in my kitchen).
"Not knowing how too cook is like not knowing how to fuck!"...Come on, if you're a foodie, you gotta love this.

Sushi

I have had my first ever bite of sushi in Paris! Yes, I went 1000 km by plane to taste the japanese wonder. Well, of course I didn't go to Paris just to eat sushi; I went there for my honeymoon (applause), but, none the less, this is the first time I have ever tasted the raw fish and rice dish.
Ipreshion: it's a good food and I see why people like it. If it's fresh it realy tastes fresh. I had the cucumber version, the plain one and everything in the box. But... youu gotta understand, I'm born and raised in Eastern Europe, at equal distance between Viena and Istambul, a part of the world where grandmothers stuff your face with cooked meat dishes, baked deserts with jams, steamy sour soups with meat and tens of vegetables boiled in them....Come on! I just am not the sushi kinda guy!
Another mith was the soy sauce. It is better than the only other one that i ever had before, store bought at home. That one was either spoiled in some way, or just plain weird tasting.
So, I didn'l like the sushi that much. But it looked f0king great!
And so begins the PARIS chapter, that will strech out for some time.

Stuffed bell peppers

This is a summer dish. I have had stuffed peppers every summer ever since a was a little boy. Last weekend I ate 2 at my mothers and I dared to make some of my own this week. It was a first. Especially when it's scorching hot, and this is a baked recipe.
In short, here are 4 ball peppers, stuffed with minced meat (pork and beef mix from the store). Rice was cooked for 5 minutes, then mixed in with the meat, parsley, paprika, 1 onion chopped and fried for 3 minutes with paprika, salt and pepper to taste. In the pot with the peppers was added approximately 1 can of chopped tomatoes and water to cover. Everything goes in the medium heat oven for approx. 1 hour. Enjoy!

Glazed chicken & summer salad

Today I decided to make some chicken legs and have them with the freshest and healthiest summer salad.

Glazing for the chicken: olive oil, garlic, salt'n'pepper, honey, mustard, chilli paste. Coat the chicken with this marinade and let sit in fridge for 1 hour. Then bake for 1 hour on high!

Salad: tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, onions, olives chopped, romanian "telemea" white cheese, fresh chopped parsley. Dress with olive oil, salt pepper to taste.

Weekend in the mountanis

Last weekend we decided to go for a 2 day trip in the mountains of Vrancea. So, we went to Lepsa, a splendid mountain resort that is just developing now in Romania. We got some nice mountain air, delightful walks through the Tisita river gorges, good meals at the only resaturant in the area and long, relaxing reading time on the terrace with a view from our room.

Top picture: the view!

Next: wild growing berry.

Middle: lunch of chicken schnitzel with a drizzle of sesame seeds and a baked potato with skin, topped with cream and bacon, chopped.

Last: you can see the desert that we had there, witch is "papanasi" (pronounced "papanashi"). It is a kind of donut with more egg in the doe, served with cream (this was organic, you could taste the difference immediately) and sour cherry jam. Delish!

Bizarre foods!

Here's 2 examples of the bizzare plates that just happened too be on my table today.
One is leftover chicken feet and some pieces of carrot from mom's clear chicken soup.
The other is a fish of uncertain orrigin (catfish?) that my girlfriend's father cooked.
Notice that the cute little dead thing is holding a baby tomatoe in it's mouth. Fine dining: there you have it!
